black midi - British trio consisting of Geordie Greep (guitar, vocals), Cameron Picton (bass, vocals) and Morgan Simpson (drums) - release their third album Hellfire on July 15th on Rough Trade Records and major shows at Somerset House and Central Park NYC. Along with the announcement, the band shared lead single / video from the album "Welcome To Hell." Hellfire, written in London after the release of Cavalcade last year, builds on the melodic and harmonic elements of its predecessor and at the same time expands the cruelty and intensity of their debut, Schlagenheim. As Greep describes, “if Cavalcade was a drama, ‘Hellfire’ is like an epic action film" which deals with the overarching themes of pain, loss, and torment. This is their most thematically composed and most intentional album to date.

While Cavalcade's stories are told in the third person, Hellfire is presented in the first person and tells the stories of characters with morally suspect personalities. There are direct dramatic monologues that address our lower sense of right and wrong. Not sure if you'll be laughing or scared.
