Ethan Tasch Releases ‘Mixtape (Edit)’
Tasch embarks on his first headline tour across the US/UK, and drops a mixtape along the way.
Indie-folk artist Ethan Tasch released his newest project Mixtape (Edit) on May 23, his first mixtape following his critically acclaimed album Got Him!, recognized by Rolling Stone and Billboard. Mixtape (Edit) ushers in new sounds for Tasch and his band, tapping into a synth-folk fusion. This project expands on Tasch’s sonics, and capitalizes on what his work does best: Making light of the dark, letting your heart show fearlessly, and defying emotional obscurity.
Mixtape (Edit) consists of five tracks, two being dropped earlier in the year as Tasch’s Easter egg singles. “Jenny” explores Tasch’s words left unsaid, and finding pockets of peace within the grieving process over a trudging drum beat and melancholy synth. Where “Jenny” leaves you contemplative, “Everyone’s a Bullet” rewrites a carefree, fast-paced narrative that’s a complete energy shift in the project, talking of leaning into romantic vices. Tasch also touches on the freedom of letting go, and rebuilding self-worth after ridding yourself of your “dirty laundry” in track “Richer Feeling”. Mixtape (Edit) is short and sweet, covering a vulnerable Tasch that keeps our ears, and hearts open. It’s a beautiful extension from Got Him!, which features collaborations from Jordana, Boyish, Father John Misty, and Kacey Musgraves, yet Mixtape (Edit) is solely carried by Tasch and his band mates, which is entirely empowering.
Ethan and his band members Trevor Zemtseff, Wyatt Moran, and Mikey LaSusa are currently on their first headline tour covering the US (April 24th- June 21st) with a quick detour across the pond (May 20th-28th). The Real Headline Tour covers Tasch’s newest Mixtape (Edit) hits and oldest favorites (“Room” to be exact). While in the UK, Tasch will be playing in London, Glasgow, and Manchester, making a special appearance at the Dot To Dot Festival in Bristol.
