Hand Habits Announces Breathtaking New Album “Blue Reminder”

Meg Duffy explores love, vulnerability, and identity on their boldest and most emotionally direct record to date.

Meg Duffy, the artist behind Hand Habits, has announced their forthcoming album Blue Reminder, set for release on August 22 via Fat Possum. Alongside the news, they’ve shared gorgeous lead single “Wheel of Change,” accompanied by a striking video directed by Otium.

The new track sets the tone for Blue Reminder, an album that reckons with joy, vulnerability, and the fear of losing what you’ve worked hard to find. On “Wheel of Change,” Duffy meditates on the ways past relationships shape future ones. It’s a song that embraces desperation and desire in equal measure, building tension through both its lyrics and its raw, guitar-driven production.

Recorded in Los Angeles with co-producer Joseph Lorge, Blue Reminder sees Duffy collaborating with a wide range of musicians, including Alan Wyffels, Olivia Kaplan, Blake Mills, and members of SML. While the album carries forward the emotional nuance Hand Habits is known for, it also marks a shift in sound, guitars are more present, arrangements more expansive, and the energy more immediate.

“I’ve spent so much time writing through pain,” says Duffy, “but now I’m more interested in acceptance, forgiveness, and exploring what it means to need and be needed.”

While Blue Reminder is rich with personal reflections, Duffy is keen not to reduce the album to simply a love record. Instead, it’s a celebration of connection, romantic, communal, and self-directed. Created at a time when affirming queer and trans joy feels like a radical act. “This record is about living the dream,” they add. “It’s a reminder that the dream is possible.”

The announcement comes alongside news of a North American tour this autumn, as well as a string of UK and European dates supporting Perfume Genius.
