Mac DeMarco Announces New Album ‘Guitar’
Shares new single ‘Home’ and expands 2025-26 tour.
Mac DeMarco has announced his upcoming album Guitar, set for release on 22 August 2025 via his own imprint, Mac’s Record Label. Alongside the announcement, he’s shared the album’s lead single ‘Home’ with an accompanying video, and confirmed a major extension to his sold-out 2025 world tour, including new dates across Asia and the United States in early 2026.
Guitar was written and recorded entirely by DeMarco at his Los Angeles home in November 2024. In typical fashion, he handled all aspects of the album’s creation, from mixing to artwork and video direction, with only the mastering entrusted to longtime collaborator David Ives. Describing the project, DeMarco said, “I think Guitar is as close to a true representation of where I’m at in my life today as I can manage to put to paper.”
New single ‘Home’ offers a reflective take on the concept of place and memory. “It’s a song I wrote at my home in Los Angeles about what home means to me” he shared. The video, shot by DeMarco himself while canoeing near his mother’s house in Canada, features quiet, scenic moments that mirror the track’s nostalgic tone.
The upcoming record follows 2023’s Five Easy Hot Dogs, an instrumental album recorded on the road, and 2023’s sprawling 199-track One Wayne G. In contrast, Guitar leans into stripped-down, personal songwriting with track titles like ‘Phantom’, ‘Terror’ and ‘Rooster’ suggesting a more introspective narrative.
Guitar is available to pre-order now.
