Rozi Plain Announces New Album ‘Prize’

On Prize, Rozi Plain makes her most powerful and intimate record yet.

On January 13, 2023, Rozi Plain releases new album, Prize, through Memphis Industries. The first single, "Agreeing for Two," was released today and features This Is The Kit's Kate Stables on backup vocals and in the music video, as well as modern jazz legend Alabaster dePlume on saxophone. Rozi says of lead single ‘Agreeing for Two’:

“This song was started when I spent a week on the Isle of Eigg writing new music.  Mainly it’s thinking about how easy it can be to unknowingly make decisions on behalf of other people, thinking you might know what’s best or right for a situation where as maybe it’s just what was easiest for you… I love the saxophone line that Alabaster Deplume added - brings a bit of his trademark heart and hopefulness.”

Rozi Plain's mesmerising, subtly off-kilter tunes have quietly strolled their way from her birthplace of Winchester through the vibrant Bristol DIY scene to where they are currently coming from London's creative epicentre over the course of four albums. Each succeeding album has explored new musical ground while maintaining a home-grown closeness and a familial warmth of spirit, gaining a worldliness that is reflected in her travels as a touring musician. Rozi's distinctive, sincere approach still prevails on Prize, her upcoming fifth long-player, which Memphis Industries is set to release on January 13, 2023. There is a persistent desire to reduce things to their bare necessities in order to highlight their inherent beauty at the heart of Rozi's unique sound. This distinguishes Rozi as one of the most forward-thinking and captivating composers.
