Sylvan Esso Return With Explosive New Single ‘Hot Slob’

Sylvan Esso have shared their first new music of 2026 with the release of ‘Hot Slob’, a bold and chaotic new single that signals the beginning of a fresh chapter for the duo.

Released through their own label, Psychic Hotline, the track finds Amelia Meath and Nick Sanborn embracing a more direct and unruly energy. Built around driving rhythms and sharp lyrical observations, ‘Hot Slob’ explores the tension between instinct and introspection that has long sat at the heart of the pair’s work.

Recorded at the band's Betty's studio in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, the song features contributions from drummer TJ Maiani, whose previous collaborators include Weyes Blood and Neneh Cherry, alongside multi-instrumentalist Jenn Wasner of Flock of Dimes and Bon Iver. Meath handles vocals while Sanborn contributes bass, guitar, drums and backing vocals.

The single arrives following Sylvan Esso's decision to move future releases to Psychic Hotline, giving the duo complete control over how and where they make music. More new material is expected throughout the summer.

Later this month, the group will begin unveiling their largest live setup to date during a sold-out residency at Los Angeles' Sid the Cat Auditorium. The performances will serve as a testing ground for a newly expanded band, which will accompany them on the road across 2026 and 2027.

Alongside the release of ‘Hot Slob’, Sylvan Esso have announced a North American tour spanning more than two dozen dates. Stops include Brooklyn Paramount in New York, Chicago's Salt Shed, Los Angeles' Wiltern and Nashville's Brooklyn Bowl. Tickets go on general sale on June 12, with pre-sales beginning a day earlier.

The duo will also revive their Good Moon festival this October. Returning for the first time since 2024, the event will take place across four venues in their hometown of Durham, North Carolina. Headlined by Sylvan Esso and Tyler Childers, this year's edition will feature appearances from Meshell Ndegeocello, aja monet, Silvana Estrada, MJ Lenderman, Rodrigo Amarante, Jacques Greene, Circuit des Yeux and many more.

‘Hot Slob’ is available now via Psychic Hotline.
