@ Release ‘Punish My Mind’ Ahead of Autosmile

Philadelphia art-folk duo @ have released ‘Punish My Mind’, the latest single from their forthcoming album Autosmile. Their first record for 4AD is due on 16 October 2026.

Woodwinds, layered harmonies and intricate chord changes shape the arrangement, which also features distorted monkey howls. Victoria Rose and Stone Filipczak write about the competing impulses to punish and comfort oneself before turning towards acceptance. The pair call it “a chill song about self-torture” and say it may be the oldest recording on the album.

Filipczak shot and edited the accompanying video. The single arrives after the nearly seven-minute title track, which @ have also performed live at Widow Jane Mine, a disused mine in Rosendale, New York. Caity Arthur directed the session, with further videos set to follow.

Rose and Filipczak are both multi-instrumentalist songwriters. Away from the project, Rose works as a beekeeper, while Filipczak is a self-taught computer programmer. Their previous releases include 2021 album Mind Palace Music and the 2024 EP Are You There God? It’s Me, @, on which they moved beyond their usual acoustic instrumentation into electronic music.

An autumn tour will take the duo across North America, the UK and Europe, with selected North American dates supporting 4AD labelmates YHWH Nailgun and This is Lorelei. The UK run starts at Bristol’s Exchange on 11 November before continuing through Leeds, Glasgow, Birmingham and Manchester. Two shows at London’s St Matthias Church are booked for 18 and 19 November, with the first sold out.

Autosmile will be released digitally, on CD and on Soil Brown vinyl. ‘Punish My Mind’ appears eighth in the 11-song tracklist, which closes with ‘Autosmile’ and ‘Amity’.
