Hang Linton Announces Debut Album With ‘the TOWER’

The Leeds artist previews their forthcoming debut with ferocious anti-war single ‘the TOWER’.

Arriving today via Linton’s own Bat Feet Records, ‘the TOWER’ is an anti-war track built around breakbeats, distorted synths and a restless funk-punk groove. It follows a breakthrough year for the Leeds-based artist, which included a place on the NME 100 and a return to Supersonic Festival.

“‘the TOWER’ is calling out the revolving door of passive politicians that have graced our current times,” Linton says. “It’s a track for the people who are tired of feeling unheard and who oppose systems of oppression.”

“This is choose-your-fighter music. An opportunity to lock in and release the frustrations we hold at the apathy displayed by those in power towards human life.”

The single offers the first taste of Apparitions, which will be released independently through Bat Feet Records with support from Linton’s Fellowship of Groove community. A Kickstarter campaign has also been launched to support the album’s release.

Alongside the studio recording, Linton has shared a live version of ‘the TOWER’, filmed at Sodium Studios and capturing the energy that has become central to their live shows.

Blurring funk, punk, psychedelia and electronic music, Linton has steadily built an audience through a DIY approach to both recording and performing. They have previously shared stages with Yard Act, Kimya Dawson and Benefits, while their 2024 EP Demonstrations received a four-star review from NME.

Their music has since received further support from BBC Radio 6 Music, The Guardian, Radio X, Apple Music and Louder Than War.

Linton will continue touring this summer, appearing at ArcTanGent Festival on 22 August and Greenbelt Festival on 29 August, before playing Rock am River in Preston on 23 October.

‘the TOWER’ is out now via Bat Feet Records, with Apparitions available to pre-order here.
