Honest Work Release New Single ‘The Final Prose’

“It’s not much, but it’s honest work” has started out as a mumble that carries a weight that runs through the pubs of East and South London.

Honest Work drift into alternative rock and indie rock with a hard-hitting sound that carries a more deliberate edge; weaving garage rock and metal into a raw unfiltered punch that creates a sound instantly reminiscent of the industrial punk of Irish outfit Gurriers or the hard rock of Queens of the Stone Age, mixed with the 90s alt rock of Smashing Pumpkins – capturing the grit and intensity live that Gurriers bring to a show – Honest Work are very much a band that are at their best live; and as one of the standouts of this years’ East London Block Party, anything new is to be absolutely treasured and with the right crowd can turn it into a real melting pot. There’s potential for the band to explode in the same way that Wunderhorse have done too.

Recorded live at Peter Gabriel’s Real World Studios with producer Xavier Sinden (Punchlove, slit.) and tracked straight to a vintage 1970s tape machine, there’s a distinctive analogue sound that feels appropriately raw and primitive - "The Final Prose is about affirmation feeling out of reach, and feeling the frustration of that," the band explain. "We are a live band and this song really reflects that, so being able to record all together in one go to tape kept that energy and helped translate the unfiltered emotion to the record."

The band’s debut single ‘Horses for Meat’ earned early support from the likes of The Line of Best Fit, DIY, Clash, Far Out and Dork and they have the band members to back themselves up – drawing in talent from Lemondaze and Saloon Dion for a string of stages that include sets with Westside Cowboy, Home Counties and Grandma’s House.
