La Discothèque Marks 10 Years With Manchester And London Parties
Basement Jaxx, Groove Armada, Purple Disco Machine and Folamour are among the acts playing the two November anniversary events.
La Discothèque will celebrate its tenth anniversary with parties at The Warehouse Project in Manchester on Saturday 7 November and London’s Drumsheds on Friday 13 November. The dates fall either side of the anniversary of its first event, held at Manchester’s Albert Hall on 12 November 2016, and will bring together artists from across disco and house, alongside the returning La Discothèque Orchestra.
The Manchester event marks La Discothèque’s Warehouse Project debut, with programming across the Depot, Concourse, Archive, Vault and Star & Garter 54. Basement Jaxx and Groove Armada will play DJ sets, joining Annie Mac, DJ Paulette and Dombresky presents Disco Dom in the Depot. Elsewhere, Gerd Janson will go back-to-back with Krystal Klear, while Hunee teams up with Luke Una. Jayda G, Cassius, CC!, Crazy P and Fleetmac Wood are also on the bill, with DJ Spinna presenting his Stevie Wonder tribute, Wonder-Full, in the Vault.
At Drumsheds, Purple Disco Machine, Folamour, Masters At Work and Dan Shake will play as part of a three-room event. Jayda G will curate a room featuring Ron Trent, Jennifer Loveless and Tarzsa, while the wider line-up includes Heléna Star, Daisybelle, DJ Paulette, Dombresky presents Disco Dom and Disco Voix featuring Jenna G. The La Discothèque Orchestra will also return, alongside the dancers and flamingo performers who have become regular fixtures at the parties.
Founded by Kat Warburton, La Discothèque drew its initial inspiration from New York clubs Paradise Garage and Studio 54. In the years since its Albert Hall debut, it has hosted parties at Printworks and Drumsheds, staged events across five summers in Ibiza and taken over festival stages at Kala and Eastern Electrics. ‘Manchester and London have both played an integral role in the La Discothèque journey,’ Warburton said. ‘Over the past decade, we’ve built something truly special, driven by an incredible community that has supported us every step of the way.’
The Warehouse Project event runs from 6pm to 2.30am on 7 November, with the Drumsheds party taking place from 7pm to 3am on 13 November.
