Radar Festival Announces The First Wave Of Its 2027 Lineup

RADAR will return, 30th July-1st August 2027 - moving to its new location in Magna, Sheffield - adding Arcane Roots and Unprocessed to a lineup that already includes a world first performance by Mick Gordon of the DOOM (2016) soundtrack.

Video games and Radar festival have long gone hand in hand, their first floor features an in-built gaming arena. Evidently, one of the most popular games of topic at the community-driven independent metal festival that has just moved from its 02 Victoria Warehouse home to Magna in Sheffield/Rotherham (depending on who you ask) is Doom, which has been scored by Mick Gordon. Already announced, as a world first with a live band & orchestra in tow, he’s the first of a traditionally three strong headliner unit - running across the Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Radar’s Catherine Jackson-Smith comments: RADAR ‘27 is already shaping up to be an unforgettable year.  We couldn’t let Mick Gordon play on his own, and since day one of RADAR we’ve lamented not being able to book Arcane Roots - so as soon as they came back from hiatus, we knew that was a match made in heaven.  Welcoming back old friends such as Unprocessed and Volumes, plus hosting returns from The Algorithm (live) and Textures, and introducing the RADAR community to some new bands we’ve discovered is exactly what we do best - and housing it at our new home is Magna is the perfect start to our next chapter.

We’re adding a new space: a RADAR pub! We don’t have time to run it ourselves - so we’ve outsourced that to a landlord collective calling themselves Pintglass.  The pub will be a separate unit, called The Geezer’s Arms, and we’ve been assured that they know what they’re doing. Bring on 2027; see you in Sheffield."

Special guest Arcane Roots recently earned the rare gift of playing both ArcTanGent and 2,000 Trees this past year, and now Radar seems like the natural fit for them. Returning favourites Volumes are added to the billing properly, and having just gone down a storm at Camden’s Electric Ballroom, Unprocessed are ready to take things up a notch. Old favourites who have also joined Unprocessed and Jinjer on tour, Textures, look set to tear up Magna, Sheffield’s new home. There’s also room for metal stalwarts Conjurer and Vower.

Further down the billing, Karmanjah, XO Armor, Revnoir, TheBoyShadow., leeched, Every Hell, The Algorthim, Cold Night for Alligators, Brightshade, Worn Out, Your Personal Vendetta and more all join the billing. What’s more is that Pintglass, Radar heroes and as every bit a key band in the festival’s folklore for pioneering the genre that is geezer-core, have decided to openly manage “The Geezer’s Arms”, under new management, following workshops on how to be a Geezer at 2025.

Radar prides itself on being a home for international artists in the UK for the first time and have recruited Dirty Loops in 2022, The Callous Daoboys in 2023, and were the first to give Sleep Token a festival headliner in 2023, now they’re selling out arenas and headlining Download. The 2025 set gave us Carpenter Brut and UNDERØATH, whilst 2024 - one of the finest years of any modern prog festival, gave us The Midnight with their UK festival debut in Manchester, joined by TesseracT and prog titans Leprous.

No genre boundaries exist here, Radar is a proudly inclusive festival that remains welcome to all. Super Early Bird, Early Bird, and Tier 1 tickets are now SOLD OUT. Get your Tier 2 tickets here: www.radarfestival.co.uk
