You recently did some work on the ‘Safe In Sound - Home Recordings From Quarantine’ project. Could you tell me a little bit more about this project and your involvement with it?
Yes the idea for this complication came from my label Joyful Noise Recordings. They wanted to help support their artist during the pandemic by releasing home-recorded music digitally and on vinyl. I recorded my song with my laptop speakers and used a fuzz pedal and fake drums to make it sound big.
Why was this project important to you?
I’ve never released demos before that I recorded and mixed myself so that was fun! And it’s great to be amongst all the other artists on the comp.
Is there anything else you’d like to add about this project?
Yeah here’s a link for y’all!

Your last album ‘Pet Town’ was definitely one of my favourites from last year; can you give us a little background on the writing of this album?
The writing happened in a period of about 3 years. I wrote all songs on an old acoustic guitar from the 40’s, which was gifted to me by an old man I met on the train. The sound of that guitar resonated with my life at that time. There was a loneliness and emptiness but in it the beauty of existing. After writing and recording my vocals and guitar I sent the songs to my band mates who wrote their own parts (keys and bass) and that’s how the songs got written.
What were some of the challenges you faced making this album and how long did it take?
There weren’t many challenges honestly. Because I didn’t have a deadline I could take the time to figure stuff out. Perhaps the drums were the biggest challenge. In the start I wasn’t sure what kind of drums to use or if I wanted drums at all. Then my bassist Jasper came up with this cool 80’s drum machine and I thought that sounded really cool and different.
Which artists have influenced you the most?
This is so difficult because there are so many.. Ok to name a few: The Beatles, George Harrison, Daniel Johnston, Cocteau Twins, Pixies, Nirvana, The Velvet Underground, Young Marble Giants, Connie Converse, Nick Drake, Neil Young.
I had the pleasure of seeing you live last year in Amsterdam, how has it been adjusting to not playing live and what have you been doing instead?
I love being at home and writing music. I prefer that to being on stage. So it wasn’t hard to adjust for me. In the meantime i also have a whole new band called Kidbug. We have already released our first album and are working on the second one. We= Adam Harding, Bobb Bruno, Thor Harris, Dale Crover and me. (I know its absurd)
If you had to pick one song for someone unfamiliar with your music to check out which would it be and why?
That’s tricky! I feel like the songs for Eerie Wanda are quite diverse. Let say ‘The Intruder’, I like the depth and groove of that one. For Kidbug i would send ‘Together’
Will we be hearing another Eerie Wanda album anytime soon? Or are fans likely to wait a similar time between albums?
I’m working on new material but since i’m quite slow it might take a while before a new album is out! Kidbug songs seem to be flowing more right now.
