The only KEG you will instantly want to neck. Drink up.

Throw last dinner’s leftovers, a proper sense of humour, a fair share of irony and a pinch of genius into a sizzling hot pan. Fry it for five minutes on a throbbing electronic oil, spice it up with next-level witty lyrics and voilà, the dish you get served is KEG. The seven people musical initiative operating between Brighton and London has started to make some noise this year with a single ‘Heyshaw’ and got to present their full vision on debut EP ‘Assembly’ via Alcopop! Records. If after listening you’re still craving for more, here’s our chat with the band to satisfy even the fussiest eaters.

Can you tell us who you are, where you’re from and about the music you make?

We are Albert, Charlie, Frank, Joel, Jonny, Jules and Will. We are from all corners of the country but 6 of us live in Brighton and 1 lives in London currently. We make rock music.

How did it all start?

Keg was initially birthed because of mine (Frank) and Albert's yearning to make loud music while playing in Jules’ more chilled project (big love to Spang Sisters go and check them out!). We just wanted to make heavier stuff and just through hanging out round Brighton and London met the rest of the band.

If you were to describe your sound to someone who’d never heard you before, what would you say?

Like a lasagna throbbing mixed with jackhammers.

How are you feeling about the release of your debut EP Assembly?

Very excited with a tinge of anxiety.  I think we are all proud to put something out into the world. Looking forward to releasing more.

What inspires your music?

So much in this band. Everyone has very individual inspirations. I guess we all universally love making, playing, dancing, listening and talking about music.

What’s it like working with Alcopop! Records?

It’s been great.  They are lovely people with a passion for their work. They’ve just let us just be our weird selves. It's nice to be encouraged to do your thing.

What advice would you give for anyone trying to achieve a similar sound to your band?

Don’t try to achieve a similar sound, make what you want to make.

How has Brighton influenced your music?

Musically not much but it’s super relaxed and full of character.

If your band were a film or TV show which would it be?

Come Dine With Me.

Name an album you’re still listening to from when you were younger and why it’s important to you?

Quasimoto - Low Class Conspiracy

Ween - Chocolate and Cheese

Roxy Music - Roxy Music

What do you hate right now?

Current Affairs, those toilet paper dispensers that only give you one sheet at a time

What do you love right now?

The music coming out of the UK, reduced ham.

What comes next in the KEG story?

EP-2 and a wash.

Is there anything else you would like to share with our readers?

Come and see us live!
