Alice Costelloe Returns With Tender New Single ‘How Can I’
Final preview of debut album Move On With The Year, out 6 February 2026 via Moshi Moshi Records
London singer-songwriter Alice Costelloe has shared new single ‘How Can I’, the final preview from her forthcoming debut album Move On With The Year, out 6 February 2026 via Moshi Moshi Records.
One of the album’s most open and emotionally direct moments, ‘How Can I’ moves with a light, almost playful touch, all honeyed harmonies and gentle percussion, while Costelloe sits with a complicated truth at its centre. “How can I / Still adore / You know I still adore you,” she sings, holding affection and hurt in the same breath. It is a quietly disarming track that captures the album’s wider preoccupation with grief, growth and learning how to live alongside unresolved feelings.
Produced by Mike Lindsay in his Margate studio, Move On With The Year is described by Costelloe as a process of creative detangling and emotional repair. The record traces memories of a childhood shaped by instability and addiction, written without bitterness or neat resolution. Instead, it offers a steady, unflinching gaze, pairing delicate melodies with lyrical detail that cuts deep.
Speaking about the song, Costelloe explains that its closing affirmation was a deliberate choice. Inspired by a quote from Feist about repetition becoming a kind of spell, she wanted to counterbalance the album’s heavier moments. “I added the line ‘I am good, I’m enough, I’m surrounded by love’,” she says. “I know it’s unbearably cheesy, but I wanted a moment that could manifest something more positive.”
‘How Can I’ is out now. Move On With The Year is released on 6 February 2026 via Moshi Moshi Records, with Costelloe touring the album across the UK in February and March, including multiple sold out London dates.
