Mandy, Indiana Share New Single ‘Cursive’ And Announce European Tour
Mandy, Indiana have shared ‘Cursive’, the latest single from their forthcoming album URGH, due out February 6th via Sacred Bones Records.
Following lead single ‘Magazine’, ‘Cursive’ sees the band leaning further into their tense, confrontational sound. Built around jagged rhythms and pulsing electronics, the track moves between moments of restraint and sudden, explosive release. An accompanying video, directed by Stephen Agnew, is out now.
Speaking about the track, synth player Simon Catling said: "‘Cursive’ is probably our most collaborative track to-date. Whilst Scott and Valentine often offer the initial impetus behind most of our songs, ‘Cursive' was built up from a number of Alex's rhythmic sketches and my bass sequence. Valentine added her vocals later and Scott worked to sculpt these elements together. It was exciting having everyone bring their own ideas to the table from the off, throwing them together and seeing what could come out of it — a bit of a step into the unknown for us as a band.”
URGH was co-produced and co-mixed by Scott Fair alongside Daniel Fox of Gilla Band. Much of the album was written during an intense residency at a studio house on the outskirts of Leeds, before being recorded across Berlin and Greater Manchester. The writing and recording process was shaped by a difficult period for the band, with both vocalist Valentine Caulfield and drummer Alex Macdougall undergoing multiple surgeries during the same timeframe. That sense of physical and emotional exhaustion feeds into the album’s surreal, confrontational atmosphere.
The album follows the band’s acclaimed 2023 debut i’ve seen a way, further developing Mandy, Indiana’s singular sound and sense of purpose.
Alongside the release of ‘Cursive’, Mandy, Indiana have also announced a run of European tour dates for 2026, including shows in London, Paris, Berlin, and more.
