Archie Sagers Announces New Single ‘Silver Lake’

Out today via Crafting Room Recordings.

Brighton-based musician and label founder Archie Sagers is set to release his new single ‘Silver Lake’ on July 10 through Crafting Room Recordings. Known for his involvement in the local DIY scene, Sagers wrote, recorded, mixed and mastered the track himself, drawing on a blend of shoegaze textures and dreamy new wave influences.

The single marks his first release since 2021’s New Colours in the Sky, a project co-released by Spirit Goth and Crafting Room. With ‘Silver Lake’, Sagers leans further into personal, romantic themes. “I wrote ‘Silver Lake’ just before moving in with my partner and it’s perhaps the sappiest love song I’ve written,” he explains. “It’s based on the simple idea of creating a place that belongs to both of you - whether that’s a physical space like an apartment or the space you have for eachother, that feeling of comfort when you think of them. It’s about how a person can make you feel as if there is no past or future without them, everything you need is right here.”

The track features his partner Jasmine Merriman on backing vocals and includes drums by Scott Alex Robinson, known for work with SPIKEMYHEART and Ahno. Sagers opens the song with chord progressions on a six-string bass, an approach he’s also used while playing bass live with ladylike.

The accompanying video, directed and edited by Sagers, features footage of road trips and quiet domestic moments, including scenes of the lake that gave the song its name.

Alongside his solo work, Sagers runs Crafting Room Recordings, a not-for-profit label that focuses on fairness and community support. Artists on the label include ELLiS D, Ideal Living, Wine Pride and Soft Top. “It often feels like I’ve bitten off more than I can chew,” he says. “The Brighton music scene is so varied and so welcoming, I feel really lucky to play a part. Working with immense talents from the local scene is a real honour and I’m constantly striving to grow the label and put back into the music scene.”
