deathcrash Announce New Album Somersaults, Out February 27 On untitled (recs)
London slowcore band deathcrash announce their third album Somersaults, releasing February 27 on untitled (recs), alongside a new single and video.
London-based slowcore quartet deathcrash have revealed details of their third album, Somersaults, set for release on 27 February via untitled (recs). The announcement is accompanied by the release of the album's opening and title track, complete with a new video now available on YouTube.
The band, consisting of Tiernan Banks, Matthew Weinberger, Noah Bennett and Patrick Fitzgerald, continue to explore themes of growing up and the complexities of adulthood on this new record. The album follows their previous releases, including the 2022 album Return and 2023's Less, and builds on their signature sound of intimate vocals and textured instrumentation.
Commenting on the title track, Banks said the song symbolised the record's themes: "This record comes from a place of growing up, and giving up on adolescent dreams. Matt presented to us this beautiful nostalgic song, more or less fully formed, and he’d called it ‘Somersaults’ before the vocals were ever written for it. It became a symbol for the record more or less instantly."
Recording took place over four days at Black Box studio in the Loire Valley, where the band balanced existential themes with moments of joy and purpose. The album reflects a second “coming of age” period, capturing the tension between youthful anxieties and the acceptance of life’s realities.
deathcrash will support the album with live dates including a New York show on 26 February and a UK tour in April, with performances in Bristol, Glasgow, Manchester and London among others.
