Dog Race Announce Debut EP ‘Return The Day’

Dark, theatrical, and unflinchingly raw, “Return The Day (Colours)” marks a gripping return from one of the UK’s most arresting new bands.

Dog Race, the gothic five-piece from Bedford and London, have announced their debut EP Return The Day, due for release on June 6 through Fascination Street Records. Alongside the announcement, the band have shared a gripping new single, “Return The Day (Colours)” a turbulent, synth-laced burst of gothic energy that pushes their unsettling, theatrical sound further into the dark.

Driven by hammering drums, icy synths, and Katie Healy’s haunting vocals, “Return The Day (Colours)” captures a moment of emotional disintegration. “It’s a portrait of joy fading to grey,” the band explain, “where inspiration dulls and everything once vivid begins to blur.” The EP itself explores themes of burnout, co-dependency, and internal collapse, with Healy describing it as “a soundscape born from sleepless nights, intrusive thoughts, and the quiet war between the mind and the world around me.”

Produced by Ali Chant, Return The Day follows a string of intense and theatrical singles including The Leader and It’s The Squeeze. Across its five tracks, the EP pulls listeners into a disorienting world of modulated guitars, unnerving synths, and operatic unease. It’s a bold and cinematic debut that builds on Dog Race’s growing cult appeal.

The band will be touring throughout the summer, with upcoming dates including performances at The Great Escape in Brighton, Dot to Dot Festival, and several European festivals.
