Honeyglaze, SLAG And villagerrr Lead A Stacked Circuit Break Line-Up
Circuit break is Northampton’s latest multi venue festival that spotlights some of the most talented new bands in the UK taking place on Saturday 27 June.
Northampton is only a short train journey away from the capital of London and follows the path of festivals like Great Escape, Are You Listening and Outer Town to give room for locals to see some of the best new bands in the industry. Indie rock headliners Honeyglaze lead the billing with Ohio natives villagerrr and thistle.; a lo-fi, introspective yet hardcore garage rock band that are local heroes – formed out of a garage in Northampton themselves. It’s a great way to start things off.
Further down the billing rabble rousers Lemonsuckr aren’t afraid to get a pit going with their cowbells and Slag are the indie band of the moment; having recently done hugely successful Great Escape shows in their hometown of Brighton. In terms of rowdier bands – there is a lot of them, Y are a underground band that feel like outsiders in a lineup full of them – it’s not about genre loyalty or polish, but about instinct and surprise. You never know what you’re going to get for a set.
Rather than another large scale festival; Circuit Break instead champions on focusing leftfield and emerging artists in an intimate town venue. The local curation and culture with plenty of local hometown bands on the billing helps shine a spotlight on the scene – Orchestral pop artist Ninush and Pem fit further into the ethereal category so there is a scene everywhere you look; and 1000 Rabbits; London’s most buzzy band of the moment, also make the trip north of the M25.
Welsh indie icons Casual Smart are fast rising and incredibly confident for such a young age – and likewise, compatriots Morn have already had ‘Modern Man’ debut on EA 26 with plenty of barnstorming Windmill sets to cause a opposite the likes of eight piece Big Long Sun and Windmill regular Jonique. Blood Wizard has now dropped a new EP ‘Lucky Life’ but a personal favourite is still the catchy earworm ‘Devil Dressed in Disguise’.
