Ariana Grande Unveils First Taste Of Upcoming Album petal
Ariana Grande has released her new single ‘hate that i made you love me’, offering the first glimpse into her forthcoming eighth studio album, petal, which is scheduled for release on 31 July via Republic Records.
The track was written and produced by Grande alongside longtime collaborators ILYA and Max Martin. Marking her first new solo material since 2024's eternal sunshine, ‘hate that i made you love me’ sees the pop star lean into a darker, more bittersweet sound while retaining the glossy hooks that have defined much of her career. It's an unexpectedly effective combination, and one that feels like a small step back towards the sharp songwriting that made some of her strongest releases so memorable.
An accompanying music video for the single is set to premiere on 1 June. Directed by Christian Breslauer and shot by Academy Award-winning cinematographer Janusz Kaminski, the visual arrives ahead of what is shaping up to be a busy summer for Grande.
The release comes shortly before the start of the Eternal Sunshine Tour, her first major live run in several years. Beginning in Oakland, California on 6 June, the tour will visit cities across North America and Europe, including a stop at London's O2 Arena.
Over the past decade, Grande has established herself as one of pop's defining figures, balancing chart success with an increasingly high-profile acting career. Most recently, she earned widespread praise for her performance as Glinda in Wicked.
petal arrives on 31 July, with ‘hate that i made you love me’ available to stream now.
