Radie Peat Shares Debut Solo Single 'Still I Love Him'

The Lankum and ØXN vocalist reimagines a traditional Irish love song with her first solo release via Rough Trade Records.

Radie Peat has released her debut solo single, 'Still I Love Him', marking the first music under her own name from the acclaimed vocalist of Lankum and ØXN. Out now via Rough Trade Records, the track arrives alongside an accompanying video directed by Robbie Mailer-Howat, with creative direction from Grace Margetson Studios and creative consultant Flora Dalton.

A reinterpretation of a traditional Irish love song, 'Still I Love Him' places Peat's distinctive contralto voice at its centre, exploring the emotional contradictions of love, devotion and resilience. The song was uncovered in the Irish Traditional Music Archive by fellow musician John Francis Flynn, who composed a new melody before sharing it with Peat. She then developed her own intricate vocal arrangement, layering harmonies and tonal shifts to draw out the emotional complexity of the lyrics.

Speaking about the recording, Peat said she wanted the freedom to shape her voice intuitively rather than over-explaining her artistic choices. She described the performance as an attempt to capture both "the elation and devastation that can accompany obsessive love", using layered vocals to create a stronger emotional connection.

Peat was also struck by the song's archival categorisation under the title True Love, describing it as unsettling given the difficult relationship portrayed in the lyrics. Throughout her interpretation, she sought to balance the darkness of the narrative with moments of hope, using contrasting arrangements to reflect both suffering and enduring affection.

The release follows a remarkable few years for Lankum, whose 2023 album False Lankum earned widespread critical acclaim, including Mercury Prize and Ivor Novello Award nominations, while topping several publications' Albums of the Year lists. The band also released the live album Live in Dublin in 2025, recorded across three sold-out performances at Dublin's Vicar Street, and their music has recently featured in Netflix's House of Guinness and The Immortal Man, the forthcoming Peaky Blinders film.

To coincide with the release, Peat has also announced a run of headline shows across the UK and Europe, including dates at London's Union Chapel, Dublin's Vicar Street and Amsterdam's Paradiso. Pre-sale tickets go on sale from 10am on 9 July, with general sale beginning at 10am on 10 July.

Radie Peat live dates:
