Twenty One Children embark on a UK tour as the future of punk/hardcore

South African outfit Twenty One Children are the future of hardcore/punk; now’s your chance to see them ahead of a UK tour where they prepare to play with heavy outfit Letlive. in addition to their own headline slot at iconic heavy venue New Cross Inn.

Hailing from Johannesburg, the fearless trio of Twenty One Children are set to tear up the punk scene and meet it head on with a London headline date taking place next week on the 18th. It’s a support that gathers the best of the punk scene: Ursula and Shunkai round up the lineup. It’s a barnstormer of an evening created by Real Life Presents that gives Twenty One Children the spotlight to headline their own show fresh off the back of what’s sure to be a boisterous awakening supporting Letlive. Brighton’s hardcore scene is also second to none; so an evening at the Green Door Store feels inevitable.

They combine the essence of US Skate punk with the hardcore grit of Soweto’s noise and soul and have played numerous Great Escape slots in 2025 as well as a tour with legends DEATH at We’re Lout Fest in Kenya. DIY is their motto that they keep with them to their hometown and the influence of the likes of Ngozi Family and Reagan Youth is felt everywhere over their records so far: formed by friends Thula and Abdula with drummer Biko, their sound – on the lo-fi record that is ‘After the Storm’, instantly arrives fully formed and well realised – opening with a summary of the catharsis importance of moshing – before plunging you right in to the relentless two-steps, pits and brutal hardcore that will follow.

Track highlight so far appears to be ‘Scab’ – capturing early Beastie Boys with real raucus, anti-authoritarian spirit. If their aim is to put Soweto on the map with their rule being simple: skate fast, mosh hard – they’ve certainly made a case for themselves. Look no further than an early October date at Left of the Dial festival in Rotterdam - a sure-fire sign of tastemaker greatness.
