Genesis Owusu Releases New single ‘Get Inspired’

Genesis Owusu continues his genre-defying rise to the top with infectious new track, ‘Get Inspired’

Today multi-ARIA award-winning Ghanaian-Australian artist Genesis Owusu released his new single, ‘Get Inspired’. The single is available now via OURNESS / AWAL — you can listen here!

The new single, produced by Dann Hume, and Andrew Klippel, uses a sequence of siren-like guitar wails, jutting bass notes, and Owusu’s unmistakable lyrical jabs. Midway through the song, Owusu's catchy falsetto breakdown counterbalances a frightening and poetic punk hybridity before the song's driving rhythm picks back up. The new release comes on the back of Genesis Owusu's incredible year of highs, from blistering sold-out live performances in America and Europe to his current Australian tour with Tame Impala. His European swing saw him perform at Berlin’s Berghain as well as a performance at Barcelona’s Primavera Sound. This is all the crazier as Owusu only released his debut album Smiling With No Teeth in March 2021— truly a meteoric rise! The album winning triple j’s Album of the Year and four ARIA award titles, including Album of the Year, Best Hip Hop Release, Best Independent Release and Best Cover Art. Along with the critical success of the album, the track ‘Gold Chains’ was included in President Obama's Favourite Music of 2021 playlist.
