Amyl and The Sniffers Announce Truth Or Consequence Concert Film and Live Album
Amyl and The Sniffers have announced Truth Or Consequence, a concert film and live album featuring country reworkings of their songs. Limited cinema screenings will begin on 25 August, with the recording following on vinyl and streaming platforms on 4 September.
At the centre of the project is a performance staged at El Coyote Mexican Restaurant in Los Angeles in April 2025. Joined by friends, the Australian four-piece reshaped fan favourites into stripped-back country arrangements, while also playing two unreleased songs and a cover of Slim Dusty’s ‘Lights On The Hill’.
The film moves between the restaurant set and footage captured behind the scenes. Explaining the spirit they wanted to preserve, the band said: “The hope for this record is that it is listened to as it was made, in a ruckus exclamation between a cherished group of friends.”
Truth Or Consequence comes after a sustained run of touring behind the band’s third album, 2024’s Cartoon Darkness. That period has included headline dates across Australia, the US, UK and Europe, festival appearances at Glastonbury, Primavera Sound, Roskilde, Pukkelpop and Lollapalooza, and shows with AC/DC, Foo Fighters and Green Day.
Cartoon Darkness earned four ARIA Awards, including Album of the Year, Best Group and Best Rock Album, alongside Grammy and BRIT Award nominations. The new project pulls the focus back to a smaller room: one restaurant, a group of friends and a country set captured on film.
