Daft Punk Announce LEGO Partnership and Alive 2007 Pyramid Set
A fan-designed recreation of the duo’s pyramid stage is going into development, with more announcements to follow in 2027.
Daft Punk and LEGO have announced a partnership that will include an official set based on the pyramid stage from the duo’s Alive 2007 tour. The collaboration launches today (22 October) with a short film featuring Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo’s robot characters as LEGO minifigures, soundtracked by ‘Voyager’ from Discovery and the title track from Human After All.
The forthcoming set began as a fan project by Luxembourg-based designer Patrick Harboun and his son during lockdown. Their concert model won the grand prize in LEGO Ideas’ Music to Our Ears competition in 2020 and subsequently attracted 10,000 supporters on the platform. LEGO has now approved the idea for development into an official product, although the finished design, release date and price have yet to be announced. Images shared with the announcement show the original fan model.
‘We never dared imagine it would take off in this way,’ Harboun said. ‘Watching our passion project become part of an official collaboration is an incredible experience, and it’s a reminder of what makes the LEGO Ideas community so special. That a simple idea, shared by fans, really can become something much bigger.’
The announcement follows a 30-second teaser shown on ‘Daft Punk – WDPK 83.7’ on 21 October, which featured a red LEGO brick. In the full film, the robots follow a holographic brick through a dark landscape before arriving at a console built from LEGO. Further content and events are planned alongside the product collaboration, with more details due in 2027.
‘The pyramid stage is one of the most recognisable expressions of Daft Punk’s visual world, so it feels fitting that this fan-created design will be centre stage of this partnership,’ said Cédric Hervet, Daft Punk’s creative director. ‘Fans have always played an important part in Daft Punk’s story, and we are excited to see that creativity reflected through the LEGO universe.’
