ELLiS·D announces new EP Due 4 September with a live single ‘humdrum’

Recorded via a sold out crowd at V11, Rotterdam, ELLiS·D announces a new Spill EP (Live), due 4 September via Crafting Room Recordings & Left of the Dial

Having had the chance to see ELLiS·D (Ellis Dickinson, drummer turned solo musician) at tastemaker Bristol festival Outer Town; the Fat Dog drummer is able to make his own shows visually unique and completely distinctive with a breathtaking new single ‘Humdrum (Live)’ - on the back of a mammoth 170 shows in 2025. After such a lengthy touring schedule you’d expect that man to slow down but that is far from the case - his biggest headline to date comes at the Lexington in London on October 14; and the Brighton goth/art-punk auteur makes a statement claim for himself that Far Out view as “the greatest live act on the modern circuit”; and based on past experience - you’d be hard pushed to argue otherwise. He is appropiately explosive, relentless and brings shows drenched in sweat, stage dives and psyxchedelic freak-outs to the table.

Such a feat of live touring deserves to be documented; his EP ‘Spill’ is now repackaged as a live record; in collaboration with boutique label Crafting Room Recordings (SoftTop, Maximillian) and showcase festival Left of the Dial. With ‘Humdrum’ - ELLiS·D praises his first sold-out headline show outside of the UK and why this Rotterdam show means so much to him - “It felt like a real milestone for myself and the band. We wanted to capture the amazing connection we've felt playing to European audiences, with nowhere better to do it than the basement of a boat in Rotterdam. Each of the tracks on the EP have been staples of our live set for a long time but switching into the mindset of performing and recording for the EP gave us a fair few jitters pre-show. Once we crashed into ‘Chasing The Blue' that all melted away.”

His ones to watch list appearances are as frequent as his live shows, and the radio plays from BBC 6 Music have made him a staple with Steve Lamacq, Emily Pillbeam’s New Music Fix and John Kennedy over on Radio X. Festivals like The Great Escape, Tim Burgess’ Kendal Calling Stage, Best Kept Secret and 2,000 Trees under his belt (a highlight of my festival experience there) have given him a variety of experiences in diffierent fields - which continues into the autumn with shows at Reeperbahn and Brighton Psych Fest; plus his biggest headline to date at the Lexington in London this October. The workmanlike energy of his intense live shows draws to mind that of the New York Dolls and Savages - able to drift into Gothic Intensity with a touch of glam-rock swagger. Crafting Room Recordings (run by Archie Sagers of ladylike) are new DIY label instrumental in getting this one off the ground - with a brace of EPs (both sold-out vinyl runs) showcasing the high demand for physical collections. Beyond Fat Dog and his headline shows - ELLiS·D already has the experience touring with the likes of Gans, M(Haol) and Plantoid - already featuring at Green Man Rising and Glastonbury Emerging. If you want to experience what ELLiS·D is like live look no further - get down to one of the upcoming shows in readiness for what’s sure to be a memorable record release.
