DIIV Announce New Album ZIRP!, Share ‘The Fountain’

DIIV return with their fifth album ZIRP!, produced by A. G. Cook and led by new single ‘The Fountain’.

DIIV have announced their fifth studio album, ZIRP!, which is set for release on October 30th via Fantasy Recordings. The band have also shared its opening track and lead single, ‘The Fountain’.

The official announcement follows a teaser campaign last week, which saw DIIV send fans a hotline number through the post. ZIRP! follows their 2024 album Frog in Boiling Water and sees the band working with A. G. Cook, known for his production work with Charli XCX and Caroline Polachek.

According to DIIV, the album’s title refers to ‘zero interest rate policy’, the economic approach that kept borrowing costs extremely low in the years following the financial crisis. The record continues to explore some of the social and political concerns heard on Frog in Boiling Water, this time touching on subjects including the technology industry, streaming culture and wider societal breakdown.

‘The Fountain’ offers the first glimpse of that direction. While retaining the dense guitars associated with the band’s recent work, the track places greater emphasis on rhythmic guitar parts and a more immediate melodic approach.

Cook initially expected his involvement with the record to revolve around radically reworking DIIV’s demos, but changed direction after seeing the band perform live. Instead, the sessions focused heavily on capturing the group's live sound, with drums recorded early in the process and considerable attention given to individual guitar parts and effects.

“I became a bit obsessed with their live sound, and insisted on recording live drums before most of the songs were even finished,” Cook said. He added that ZIRP! eventually became a way of pushing DIIV “into new territory”.

The 11-track album features ‘The Fountain’ alongside songs including ‘When The Glow Came For Us’, ‘Trillions’, ‘Evangelizer’, ‘Underground’ and closing track ‘Idiot In The Sky’.

DIIV will support Interpol across a run of North American dates in October before returning to Europe in November. The band are currently scheduled to appear at Pitchfork Music Festival Paris on November 2nd, Sonic City Festival in Belgium on November 6th and Pitchfork Music Festival London on November 7th.

ZIRP! is released on October 30th, 2026 via Fantasy Recordings.
