otta Shares ‘BOWIE’ Ahead Of New Album ASTRA

The British-Finnish songwriter strips things back on the latest single from her forthcoming album, out on 20 November.

otta has shared ‘BOWIE’, the second single from her new album ASTRA, which arrives on 20 November via löyly. It follows ‘MEZZANINE’, an eight-minute first glimpse of the record. ‘BOWIE’ takes a much simpler approach, built around her voice and guitar with a few digital touches.

‘The idea of making more stripped back music scares me,’ otta says. She had been listening to Wings and Paul McCartney while writing it, which reminded her how much she enjoyed direct songwriting. She admits she would not have chosen ‘BOWIE’ as a single straight away, but friends encouraged her to put it out. A video, filmed by otta alongside Theo Zhykharyev and Ciara Reddy, accompanies the track.

otta played every instrument on ASTRA herself, with Dilip Harris handling the mix. The album follows 2025’s With Love From Everywhere and was made in part while she was living with chronic fatigue following a coronavirus infection. During that period, she recorded sounds drifting in from outside, including birds, planes and a passing school parade, which found their way into the new record.

otta plays Kronkel Festival in Amsterdam on 26 September, followed by a London show at Spanners on 26 November.
