Queens Of The Stone Age Announce New Album ‘Perfecth’

Queens Of The Stone Age announce their ninth studio album Perfecth, arriving this October via Matador Records, and share new single ‘Insignificant Other’.

Queens Of The Stone Age have announced their ninth studio album, Perfecth, set for release on October 30 via Matador Records. The announcement arrives alongside new single ‘Insignificant Other’, the second track to be shared from the record following ‘Easy Street’, which marked the band’s first new music since 2023 album In Times New Roman….

Recorded in just two takes, ‘Insignificant Other’ captures Joshua Homme, Troy Van Leeuwen, Michael Shuman, Dean Fertita and Jon Theodore playing together with an intentionally loose approach. Homme describes the track as a song about distance and the disorientating feeling of watching someone who once occupied your entire world disappear from it.

Produced by Homme and Shuman, Perfecth was recorded across sessions spanning New Orleans and Los Angeles. Its nine tracks explore different forms of love, from relationships with family and friends to those that fall apart entirely. The album takes some inspiration from kintsugi, the Japanese practice of repairing broken pottery while leaving its fractures visible, with the idea of rebuilding something damaged without disguising what happened to it running throughout the record.

“Every song sounds like it’s from a different world,” Homme says of the album, explaining that the intention was to connect emotions surrounding love, lust, foolishness and the wisdom that can eventually emerge from them. The deliberately misspelt Perfecth also plays into the record’s central idea. For Homme, perfection itself is something of a false concept, leading the band to distort the word into something they felt better reflected reality.

The album announcement is accompanied by a video directed by Chapman Baehler and starring Big Chongus, alongside Ruby Homme, Max Homme, Pumpkin Van Leeuwen, Isabella ‘Izzy’ Puppolini Van Leeuwen and Reesa Shuman. Perfecth will be released digitally and on CD and vinyl, including standard black and indie-exclusive clear editions. A deluxe version will also feature handwritten lyrics, stationery, stamps and additional artwork.

Queens Of The Stone Age are currently preparing to return to the road, beginning another run of North American stadium dates with Foo Fighters in September before heading to Iceland, Japan, Singapore, Australia and New Zealand later in the year.
