Rock Werchter Announces Fourth Headliner Massive Attack For 2027, Joining Sam Fender, Muse And Tame Impala

Having last appeared at Rock Werchter in 2003 Massive Attack make a return to a lineup that completes the headliners of Sam Fender, Tame Impala and Muse, with already announced TURNSTILE, Sombr & Angèle

Their last appearance at the festival was on 27 June 2003. Massive Attack are still very much of the moment. Their music continues to set the standard. Hip-hop, soul, reggae, dub, post-punk and electronica blend with social engagement and activism. A Massive Attack concert is an experience, number one on my bucket list - not just an evening but an experience that needs to be seen live to be believed, and on the same day as Turnstile will already be second to none - near unmatched by festivals everywhere in 2027 at this point.

The band, fronted by 3D (Robert Del Naja) and Daddy G (Grant Marshall), will headline the opening day of Rock Werchter in 2027 - that has seen The Cure, Twenty One Pilots, Green Day and more headline in recent years. Rock Werchter 2027 will take place from Thursday 1 to Sunday 4 July at the Festivalpark in Werchter. It was previously announced that Tame Impala, SOMBR, Muse, Angèle, Sam Fender and Turnstile will be performing at Rock Werchter this summer. Ticket sales start on Friday 30 October at 10am. You can register for the Rock Werchter presale – which gives you early access to tickets – via rockwerchter.be.

From ‘Blue Lines’ (1991) to ‘Boots on the Ground’ (2026): Massive Attack remains as relevant as ever and has been charting its own course for almost four decades. The British group, formed in 1988, laid the foundations for trip-hop and went on to become one of the most influential acts of its generation. Both their debut album ‘Blue Lines’ and the groundbreaking ‘Mezzanine’ feature on Rolling Stone’s list of the 500 greatest albums of all time.

With over 13 million albums sold worldwide and prestigious accolades, including a BRIT Award, two MTV Europe Music Awards and an Ivor Novello Award, Massive Attack has left an indelible mark on modern music history. "Teardrop", "Unfinished Sympathy", "Angel", "Inertia Creeps" and "Risingson" are timeless tracks that still sound just as fresh and distinctive today. Massive Attack also have a rock-solid reputation for their live performances. On stage, 3D and Daddy G are surrounded by top musicians and special guest artists.

Their shows combine music and visuals with outspoken political and social messages. The result is as compelling as it is confrontational. With powerful messages and an uncompromising artistic vision, Massive Attack turns every performance into a statement.
