Josephine Illingworth, Kiwi Jr. and Catrin Vincent Join Climate Justice Benefit Compilation
Mobilise Everywhere will be released on Bandcamp on 30 October, raising money for the Climate Justice Coalition.
Josephine Illingworth, Kiwi Jr., Catrin Vincent and fanclubwallet are among the artists contributing to a new benefit compilation for the Climate Justice Coalition. Organised by Hayden Merrick and Kayla Sandiford, Mobilise Everywhere: A Compilation for Climate Justice brings together independent artists from across genres and will be released exclusively on Bandcamp on Friday 30 October.
The compilation opens with a new track from London experimental folk artist Josephine Illingworth. Written, produced and mixed in her shed studio, ‘All My Sisters Are Birds’ was inspired by her three sisters, the changes in the world since their childhood and her fears for them as they grow up. Illingworth recently released ‘Who Burnt the Mountain’ in conjunction with Sounds Right, an initiative that credits Nature as a recording artist.
Elsewhere, Toronto indie rock band Kiwi Jr. contribute an original demo of ‘Undecided Voters’ from the era of their 2021 album Cooler Returns. Former Another Sky vocalist Catrin Vincent has teamed up with Preacher’s Son for a lo-fi recording of their new song ‘I Need To Know I’m Safe’, while Ottawa’s fanclubwallet shares a previously unreleased track, ‘Pickles N Greens’. The tracklist also features contributions from 7ebra, Starly Kind, Two-Man Giant Squid, His His and Scrounge.
The Climate Justice Coalition brings together environmental and development organisations, trade unions, grassroots campaigns, faith and youth groups, and migrant justice networks. Its work connects climate justice with opposition to the genocide in Gaza and the rise of the far right, as well as campaigning for migrant rights and accountability for billionaires’ roles in climate backsliding.
