Spanish Horses Sign To So Young Records And Share Debut Single ‘Hey Man (Hey Man!)’ ahead of a festival spot at End of the Road

Ahead of their performance at End of the Road this weekend, London newcomers Spanish Horses announce their arrival with ‘Hey Man (Hey Man!)’ out now via So Young Records. The band is an amalgamation of breezy, americana-tinged guitars and long-haired groove that marks an assured statement piece for the band: capturing the era’s ubiquitous tension and anxiety mixed in with the nauseating fight to break out of it.

“I think it’s really flipped a switch for us, this song found our sound,” the band explain. “The writing process was quick and easy, we laughed throughout. It came as an apparition, a divine intervention, a eureka moment!”

Built from a voice memo by Albert Cocker (guitar) and Victor Michee (bass) before Cyril Stephan’s drum work endowed the track with its immediate, urgent boldness, Cocker has now earned a performance at End of the Road playing at the same festival as his father, Jarvis – who headlines as part of Pulp.

“We were working, hustling and partying all over town without skipping a beat,” Spanish Horses say of their time in Paris having been formed there consisting of both British and French members. “We had nothing to lose, everything was fun and time was no concept for a while. Music, booze, parties; It was very full on. We weren’t exactly disciplined, healthy or functioning. It was like a second adolescence. It was a good time. The move to London was motivated by the feeling of being stuck in a glass box. We had done all we could in the city and moving to London became the obvious next step.”

 Spanish Horses will celebrate the release of ‘Hey Man (Hey Man!)’ with a free entry show at Soho’s Helen of Troy on September 8th.
