Vehicle Bring ‘Miserable Vibes’ With New Album ‘Fumes’

Leeds band Vehicle release banging new single ‘Miserable Vibes’ ahead of a new album ‘Fumes’ - that create as you’d expect, Miserable Vibes, anytime it’s played.

Ahead of the album next March, the garage/jangle quartet Vehicle release a banging new song ‘Miserable Vibes’ that appropriately, gives off as you’d expect, miserable vibes, with joyfully surreal lyrics about modern life in a Northern British city and all those things “the world has forgotten to remember.”

The band have already had ‘Escalator’ crowned “Song of the Summer” by Steve Lamacq and the critical acclaim for the band’s output has already led to them playing shows with numerous vintage pop contemporaries across the UK: think Sharp Pins, The Tubs, Good Flying Birds, The Cindys, Delivery, Holiday Ghosts, Formal Speedwear, Bramwell, Midding and the Paris Match. If you like those bands, plus acts like The La’s and C86, you’ll be right at home here. Indeed, Lamacq has already called them a “latter day Monkees doing a version of American Slacker Pop” that’s a sound-byte and a half for the band that has only gone from strength to strength. And Lamacq is not the only one - Apple’s Matt Wilkinson has described Vehicle “as one of the most important parts of the new music scene in Leeds.” So what do Vehicle do with this fame? Naturally, this song features the band smoking in McDonalds.

Explaining more about the track, frontman/guitarist Michael Cable says: “A withdrawn nostalgia addict goes cold turkey, everything floats to the surface, the conclusion is an elusive one. Archive footage floats across the words– our hero doesn’t know what era they’re from anymore, the song is about the strange guilt of living in a present that borrows too heavily from the past. In the end it doesn’t really matter – “I Love Wasting Time”. Denim’s 1992 album “Back in Denim” is a big influence on this one.”

Upcoming shows:

2 NOV // Sheffield, Yellow Arch (supporting Formal Sppeedwear)

5 NOV // London, The Elephant’s Head (supporting Delivery for So Young magazine)

Vehicle are:
