Hannah Hu Shares Playful New Single ‘Love Is Easy Chaos’

Hannah Hu has shared her new single ‘Love Is Easy Chaos’, out via Eggvox.

Built around chord loops played on a 1970s Mattel Optigan keyboard, the track leans into a playful, slightly off-kilter charm from the outset. The Optigan, often compared to a Mellotron, generates sound using optical discs rather than tape, and its distinctive, almost cartoonish tone helped shape the song’s early identity. Producer Dean Honer says the pair jokingly referred to the track as “Disney Vibes” during its early stages, nodding to its 1950s movie score feel.

That sense of whimsy carries through the production, which layers Mellotron harps and clarinets with a free-flowing mix of piccolos, celestes, glockenspiels, flutes, saxophones and strings. As the song took shape, live drums, bass, guitars, woodwind and backing vocals were added, giving the track a warmer, more organic finish.

Lyrically, ‘Love Is Easy Chaos’ draws from the world of classic 1960s girl groups. Hannah Hu describes the song as a diary-like reflection on the intensity and confusion of young love. “I think this song can be universal,” she says. “It’s shimmering and intense in parts, and the music nods to nostalgic memories of romance.”
