Snail Mail Announces New Album Ricochet And Shares ‘Dead End’ Video

Snail Mail returns with her third album Ricochet, out March 27 on Matador Records, and releases a video for the lead single ‘Dead End’.

Snail Mail, the project of Lindsey Jordan, has announced her third album Ricochet, set for release on 27 March via Matador Records. This is her first album in five years, marking a return with a more mature and reflective sound.

The album's 11 tracks explore themes of time, mortality and the fear of losing what you love. Sonically, Ricochet channels the bright side of 90s alternative rock, drawing on influences like Smashing Pumpkins, Radiohead and shoegaze bands such as Catherine Wheel and Ivy.

Alongside the announcement, Jordan released the first single, Dead End, which pairs grunge-gaze textures with a catchy lead guitar riff and an explosive singalong chorus. The video, directed by Jordan and Elsie Richter, was filmed in rural North Carolina during a cold night and features fireworks that attracted police attention. Watch the video here.

Ricochet was recorded with producer and bassist Aron Kobayashi Ritch (Momma) at Fidelitorium Recordings in North Carolina and studios in Brooklyn. Jordan wrote all the instrumentals and vocal melodies on piano or guitar before adding lyrics over a year, allowing for expansive melodies and a confident vocal performance following her recovery from vocal surgery.

The album artwork features a spiral shell on a distressed blue background, symbolising themes of growth, distance and perspective. Notably, it is the first Snail Mail release not to feature Jordan's face.

Snail Mail will tour North America this spring with dates from 10th of April in Milwaukee to early May, including shows at Brooklyn Paramount and The Wiltern in Los Angeles. She will also perform in London at the Electric Ballroom on the 25th of June. Tickets go on sale 23rd of January at 10am via her official site.
