caroline Share New Single Featuring Caroline Polachek

caroline share second single ‘Tell me I never knew that’ from upcoming album caroline 2.

London experimental eight-piece caroline have announced their long-awaited second album, caroline 2, set for release on May 30th via Rough Trade Records.“Tell me I never knew that”, featuring none other than Caroline Polachek, is the second single from the album. The track arrives with a nostalgic, self-shot video compiled from years of phone footage by the band and their friends - watch it here.

The collaboration came about after an early demo sparked a half-joking suggestion to invite Polachek on board. A year later, that offhand idea became reality. "Caroline was amazing," the band explain. “She wrote a load of extra parts that gave the whole thing such a lift... even after six hours of singing, she didn’t seem the slightest bit tired.” The result is a lush, hook-laced track that blends caroline’s off-kilter, layered instrumental style with Polachek’s unmistakable vocals.

The new record follows their acclaimed 2022 self-titled debut and was pieced together over 18 months, with sessions spanning rural Scotland, southern France, Margate and Essex. It’s a step forward in both ambition and cohesion. “The first record was a compilation,” says Jasper Llewellyn. “But this one is a declaration.”

Lead single “Total euphoria” sets the tone with clashing rhythms, swelling strings, and bursts of electronics - equal parts chaos and catharsis. The album explores simultaneity, duality, and emotional intensity across its eight tracks, produced by members Jasper Llewellyn, Casper Hughes and Mike O’Malley.

Alongside the album news, caroline have also announced an expanded run of tour dates, including UK shows in May and June, plus European dates and a performance in Tokyo this September.
