Cowboy Hunters Release New Single ‘Punched In The Head’
The Glasgow duo’s latest single arrives after months of fan requests, following a launch show at Camden’s The Elephants Head last night.
Glasgow duo Cowboy Hunters have released ‘Punched In The Head’, following months of requests from listeners who had encountered the song through live sessions and social media clips. Megan Pollock and Desmond Johnston marked its arrival with a free-entry launch show at Camden’s The Elephants Head last night (30 September), with PENGSHUi joining the bill after collaborating with the pair at Burn It Down festival earlier this year. Places for the gig were allocated through a ballot, with applications exceeding the venue’s capacity.
The single brings together punk and grime, with distorted production and a vocal delivery that reflects the pair’s blunt sense of humour. Announcing its release, Pollock and Johnston wrote: ‘EVERY 1 CAN STOP WHINGEIN AT US THAT PUNCHED IN THE HED COMIN OUT’. A live version appeared in their recent Treacle Sessions performance, filmed in Glasgow, while a Beach House Sessions set recorded in Brighton also offered listeners a chance to hear their unreleased material.
According to figures shared with the announcement, clips of ‘Punched In The Head’ attracted more than three million Instagram views ahead of its release. Cowboy Hunters also recorded 1.3 million Spotify streams over the preceding four weeks, with their monthly listener count more than doubling to exceed 200,000. Their growing audience has been accompanied by support from the likes of Kesha, CMAT, Oli Sykes, Frank Carter, Machine Gun Kelly, Florence Pugh and Juliette Lewis.
