FoXix Announce New Video For ‘Strobecore Seahorse’
FoXix, the Los Angeles duo formed by singer, songwriter and bassist Lida Fox and producer and guitarist Jorge Elbrecht, will release a new video for ‘Strobecore Seahorse’ on 23 September. The track pushes together high-speed electronic rhythms, abrasive guitar textures and dark, emotionally charged pop, creating an appropriately overwhelming soundtrack for a song about being violently tossed around by the ocean.
Directed by photographer Richie Lee Davis and developed in collaboration with the band, the video moves between images of sand, sky, rocks and crashing, occasionally bioluminescent waves. Red and blue strobe lights cut through scenes of the duo performing and running through the landscape, reflecting the song’s central tension between heartbreak, catharsis and the possibility of surviving whatever comes next.
FoXix describe ‘Strobecore Seahorse’ as capturing the feeling of being “thrashed by the ocean, in a good way”. The track forms part of the duo’s wider interest in pushing electronic and guitar-based music into more physically aggressive territory, with rhythms reaching 200 beats per minute and guitars that sound as though they are collapsing under their own weight.
The video also features swimwear from Veronika Vilim, the new clothing line founded by Fox’s cumgirl8 bandmate. FoXix will play a series of shows in Los Angeles and New York this autumn, including dates with Melt-Banana, Marlon Magnée of La Femme, Paycheque, Wormwood Star, Cutouts, Light Asylum and I.U.D.
