Headed by Lola Stephen; a Dundee native, the London four piece Hank have become a core force in the capital’s DIY scene over the last few years. Stephen’s project Pearl2 has also made waves and she also runs the popular David Byrne’s Night’s Events, which will tour the UK in January 2027 and brings together names from the Pogues, English Teacher, the horrors and more doing David Byrne/Talking Heads covers for the evening.
With Hank, Stephen dips into the unconventional with her bandmates - from announcing and selling out last minute shows through word of mouth and writing and recording songs in a single day the free-flowing approach of Hank cannot be understated. They’re a cult band with an artful noise and alternative ethos - as evidenced by their first bodies of work ‘Twist Grip’ and ‘Spirallic’ in 2024 and 2025. Their debut album; recorded with Jamie Neville (PVA, Mark William Lewis) is where Hank’s sound absolutely shines, fusing the distortion with their live sets and their melodic counterparts.
