Maruja And Sprints Lead A Punk 50th Anniversary Show at London’s Iconic 100 Club With Tickets At 1976 Ticket Prices

The 1976 gig featured performances from Sex Pistols, The Clash, The Damned and more legendary punk bands that has become such an “I was there” moment in pop culture history it’s hard not to see how an anniversary like this will attract similiar eyeballs (In the audience were big names including Paul Weller, Viv Albertine, and Vivienne Westwood, and the gig soon became one of the most storied punk gigs of all time). But prices have moved on – just this week; Fontaines D.C. announced a gig with upwards of £80 for an arena and more than that for their own festival at Slane Castle in Ireland – which many are citing as unaffordable in the current day and age. It’s across the board: Ariana Grande has wrapped up a lengthy multi-venue dates at the 02 that costs anywhere from £76.35 to £405(!) per ticket, and the price creep is cutting many fans out of seeing their favourite artists live.
So; in comes the current generation of punk for a current generation of fans - £1.50 a ticket, one each, with special guests still to come – running over two days in September, following in the spirit of The Sex Pistols of course, are famed for playing at The 100 Club; that’s The 100 Club’s whole thing, and Frank Carter has since returned to the venue with an intimate show to front the new band as they strive one step further forwards.
This is the 50th anniversary of that gig that calls back to the punk genre of the 1970s whilst looking forward to the future today; picking two of the most talented bands on the market, Maruja and Sprints, with Karla Chubb’s frantic mosh-ready energy propelling Sprints forward to a frantic show at Green Man with a reputation of one of the most incendiary live bands on the planet on the back of studio albums in debut Letter to Self and 2025’s All That Is Over, marking a unique chance to catch them tearing apart one of the smallest venues they’ve played in quite some time: and that includes an album launch gig at Mascara Bar in 2025.
Headlining night two is Maruja, who recently tour up Arctangent festival, are ready and rearing to go again, mixing their jazz punk brilliance in with a swirling punk energy that’s ready to take The 100 Club by storm - Pain to Power is a triumphant debut that captures the improvisation, experimentation and explosion of hardcore distilled into a gut punch of a record that holds nothing back. It embodies the spirit of not only tearing up the rulebook but asking for what is there to replace it once the walls are torn down: community, solidarity and love. Their headline show at the Electric Ballroom in London showed they have teeth to back up their talk - and they’re a must-watch band in the current sphere.
Speaking about the shows, The 100 Club’s owner, Jeff Horton, said ““In my personal opinion, Punk is THE most important genre and subculture that the UK, or anyone else has ever produced or invented. And its longevity is testament to that. The list of good it’s done is endless. When you consider the background of despair, racism, poverty and sexism it grew from, its carried the flag for and supported people that need it continuously.
And that is why we have chosen the line up we have, on 20th and 21st September 2026 to celebrate 50 years of this incredible subculture and genre. Call it what you like, its distinct values, style, incredible music, fashion and ethos set it apart from mainstream culture. And these bands perfectly reflect what Punk means in 2026.”
