Spanish Horses Announce Debut EP ‘Small Notions’ With New Single ‘Some People’

Having torn up festival slots like at End of the Road ahead of tastemaker festival Left of the Dial, Spanish Horses announce debut EP ‘Small Notions’

London via Paris band Spanish Horses captured the attention of the audience at End of the Road with a blisteringly talented set for early in the day – with frontman Tom Onezime leading something that was “written to manifest change in our lives, as a means to jump forward and break out. The songs were written shortly before the studio sessions, creating an urgency to the sound and a fragility that we really value. Small Notions is a product of ambition, sincerity and simplicity that we hope will reach the entire world.”

‘Hey Man (Hey Man!)’ marked an assured opening statement from the quintet that was written as a sonic support companion to the era’s ubiquitous tension and anxiety, alongside the nauseating everyday routine and the constant fight to break out of it. Since launch it’s gained reception from 6music via Huw Stephens, Emily Pilbeam, Nathan Sheperd and the Roundtable, alongside airplay from Matt Wilkinson and support from tastemaker KEXP. Spanish Horses are an effortlessly catchy band capable of echoing Pulp but putting their own brand of the music; and as a result their EP is now being released 27 November via So Young Records.

The band has members of British, French, Cambodian and Lebanese descent and was formed in Paris before relocating to London to sign their record deal, embracing on the live reputation this side of the channel that is rapidly growing. Their free launch show after End of the Road at Soho’s Helen of Troy hit capacity, leading to fans watching from outside the venue, and they have embarked on support runs with Bleech 9:3 and Little Grandad over the course of September. Spanish Horses look set to follow in their wake: they have been announced at Great Escape’s First Fifty showcase, in addition to taking up slots at Wales’ Swn Festival, Glasgow’s Tenement Trail and Rotterdam’s Left of the Dial.
