The Molotovs to Headline Free Bowie Night at King’s Cross
The Molotovs will headline the opening night of King’s Cross Summer Sounds 2026, playing a free, David Bowie-inspired concert at Coal Drops Yard on Thursday 13 August.
Every artist on the bill will work one or two Bowie covers into their set, making the evening a multi-act celebration rather than a standalone tribute performance. The event is presented with Lightroom, whose immersive production David Bowie: You’re Not Alone is running in King’s Cross until 10 October.
Ashaine White and former Magic Gang frontman Jack Kaye will provide support. Kaye recently began his solo career with debut single ‘Dora’, while White brings an approach rooted in alternative rock, soulful vocals and emotive lyricism.
The concert arrives ahead of The Molotovs’ ‘Welcome To Urbia’ UK tour. An additional show at London’s O2 Kentish Town Forum has been scheduled for 26 September after the first date sold out.
Still in their teens, siblings Mathew and Issey Cartlidge have shared stages with The Libertines, Sex Pistols, Blondie, Iggy Pop and The Damned. Their debut album, Wasted on Youth, reached Number 3 in the charts, and the band have since appeared on The Jonathan Ross Show and joined Yungblud for an arena tour.
Summer Sounds runs until 23 August, with the wider programme moving through jazz, folk, soul, classical music, indie rock, dance and community performance. Highlights include a 35th-anniversary event from Tomorrow’s Warriors, five mass community choirs, an English Folk Dance & Song Society showcase, and LGBTQIA+ performers presented by Queer Britain and Sounds Queer.
